Dorothy Strong holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Social Studies and English Education and a Master’s Degree from Alabama A and M . Mrs. Strong spent the first 10 years of her career teaching general education English and Social Studies in middle schools as she followed her military husband around the world.
Trained in Language!, SPIRE, Rewards, Rite Flight, and Take Flight, she has attended numerous Orton Gillingham teacher training programs since 2005. Selected to participate in the MSLE training program through the state of Alabama, Dorothy completed a 2 year MSLE training and is currently a nationally Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT).
Mrs. Strong has trained teachers in the use of multi sensory strategies in Madison, Calhoun, Talladega, Autauga, and Limestone Counties. In addition, she has presented at the Alabama Mega Conference (2015 and 2016) as well as at the International Dyslexia Association Conference (2014). She was named the Madison County Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2014 -2015.
Mrs. Strong currently serves as the Madison County MSLE Resource Specialist, a position which allows her to train and assist Madison County teachers with implementing multi sensory strategies that assist all students especially those with dyslexic tendencies.
